Project Description:
This a “high level assessment” i.e. market research of the markets and potential economic viability, value adding raw product (for food service industry) and onward seaweed growth.
Project Outcomes:
The project complimented a feasibility study being carried out in parallel on the harvesting of seaweed blooms in the Milford Haven Waterway.
The project looked at innovative new applications and products derived from seaweed.
Lessons Learned:
The market assessment and feasibility study led to the securing of CCF funding for a pilot project which is now underway carrying out harvesting and processing trails, looking to bring a commercial plant growth product to market.
”Seaweed is an environmental asset. The activity involved exploring opportunities for producing commercial products from seaweed.”
