New LEADER Project Coordinator appointed at PLANED

Alice Coleman joined PLANED in August as LEADER Coordinator and will support the successful implementation of the Local Development Strategy for the LEADER programme in Pembrokeshire. In her role as Development Officer with Lantra, Alice supported commercial horticulture businesses to be more productive, profitable and prepared for challenges ahead.

Before joining Lantra, Alice worked with Wales Community Food Co-ops working with growers and suppliers across Wales, building capacity within local supply chains, and possesses a diverse skill set with a career background in HR Business Partnering including project and business development.

As the Local Action Group for Pembrokeshire, Arwain Sir Benfro brings together a mix of local community representatives, business, third sector, local authority partners.

Arwain Sir Benfro is currently supporting over 65 project ideas from local community groups, organisations and businesses. This is funded through the LEADER programme, which is part of the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020, Funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.

LEADER supports all kinds of activity: mentoring, training, feasibility studies or pilot projects that test an innovative new idea. It can also be used for projects that improve local skills, make better use of a local resource or realise the economic potential of part of the locality leading to a ‘new’ outcome or product.
