Plan sets out vision to make Pembrokeshire top 5 for tourism

A plan setting out a vision for tourism in the County for the next five years has been published.

The Pembrokeshire Destination Marketing Plan was launched at a Pembrokeshire Tourism Summit, held at Rhosygilwen, by Cllr Paul Miller and Jane Rees Baynes . The event included an update by the Destination Pembrokeshire Partnership on how tourism partners will restructure tourism in the county.

The document was developed by the Destination Pembrokeshire partners which comprises Pembrokeshire County Council, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, PLANED and Pembrokeshire Tourism with oversight provided by Visit Wales.

The plan contains five priority areas for tourism and a range of actions to deliver them. One of the aims set out is to make Pembrokeshire a top five UK destination choice.

CEO of PLANED, Iwan Thomas said: “It was great to see so many people attend the event and support the launch of the plan, now the important next step is to make this work in practice. PLANED is pleased to have worked with, and supported partners in the development of the Plan and with our focus on community we are committed to making this work. Working together we can improve the economic impact of tourism while balancing this with the need to protect and celebrate the very features that make Pembrokeshire an attractive visitor destination. We can put Pembrokeshire firmly in the top 5 of UK destinations of choice’

Arwain Sir Benfro – the Local Action Group (LAG) for Pembrokeshire, administered by PLANED provided funding of £19,285 to the Destination Pembrokeshire Partnership for the development of a new Pembrokeshire Destination Management Plan. This is funded through the LEADER programme, which is part of the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020, funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
